DES & JILL'S WEDDING

On 27th March, 2003, whilst on holiday in Las Vegas, we both attended the wedding of Des and Jill at the Little Chapel of the Flowers.

Everyone had met up in Las Vegas a couple of days before the ceremony. Des and Jill were the luckiest to get there as their daughter Megan was diagnosed with chicken pox the day AFTER they arrived in San Francisco! They had to get hold of a hire car to take them from San Francisco to Las Vegas as the airline refused to take them! (They were still lucky though as the Wedding may have had to be postponed if the chicken pox had been diagnosed before they left London!)

On the morning of the wedding, the boys headed off for a morning of fun and frivolity whilst we left the girls to prepare for the afternoon ceremony.

The destination for the stag morning was a shooting range called the Gun Store which was about 3 miles from the centre of Las Vegas. We all spent an excellent morning here getting the opportunity to shoot numerous handguns such as a magnum and even sub-machine guns like the Uzi 9mm, M-16, Sten gun and Tommy gun. All this whilst we were dressed in our suits!!

Our next destination was the Stratosphere where we were hoping to go on both roller-coasters located right at the top of the tower. Unfortunately, (or luckily for some of the guys!) the strong wind conditions meant that the rides weren't operating.

As a replacement activity, we decided to hijack a Blackjack table in the Casino. Aided by plenty of free beers (courtesy of the Casino!), we successfully managed to pass the time up to the wedding ceremony!

The boys made it to the Chapel on time and the ceremony was held live on the internet for the benefit of friends and family who had been unable to make it to Las Vegas. I managed to fulfill my best man duties successfully, luckily managing not to lose the rings during the morning's activities!

After the ceremony, everyone headed over to a local restaurant on the strip (very well organised by Des's friend, Caz!) where we indulged in plenty of food and drink. Highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the lemon chicken which a number of people had ordered. This arrived as no less than a COMPLETE chicken, which those that had ordered it (Kirsty included!) made a fine attempt to consume!!
